Whats on in Cork 1st week in Aug

Cork Opera House has Annie the Musical starting tonight and running until Aug 9th.

Based on the popular Harold Gray comic strip, "Little Orphan Annie," the Broadway musical opened on Broadway in 1977, won seven Tony Awards and continues to be one of the most popular musicals internationally and a great family draw. “Annie – The Musical” will include the memorable songs such as “It’s A Hard Knock Life”, “Tomorrow”, “I think I’m Gonna like it here” and “You’re never fully dressed without a smile”.

Annie features a 100% Irish cast including the legendary Rebecca Storm, the First Lady of Irish Musical Theatre.

The Everyman Palace Theatre has Lovers starting on Aug 9th

Split into two one-act plays entitled 'Winners' and 'Losers', LOVERS is a brilliantly crafted, tender and witty study of love. The two one-act plays are presented as a single play, though they share neither character nor story. The lovers of the first act are a young couple whilst in the second they are well beyond their prime. Together, however, the plays complete each other, observing and commenting on two different types of love.

What's on in cork this week

The Everyman Theatre has a new show opening on July 28th called 'The Gigli Concert'

This searching, challenging and funny play deals with seven days in the relationship between JPW King - a practitioner of "dynamatology" (spirtual guidance), and a mysterious Irishman - a construction millionaire who asks King to teach him how to sing like the Italian opera singer Beniamino Gigli.

Using magnificent language, ideas and stage trickery The Gigli Concert grapples with huge themes of mental illness, healing and, as ever with Murphy, the redemptive power of creativity in human relationships.

The Opera House has 'ABBA Revival' coming on July 26th

Usually appearing only on Women’s Little Christmas, the top Abba tribute band returns to Cork for a summer concert. Don’t miss the amazing costumes identical down to the last detail and the superb vocal ability to rival the original dancing queens as Una Gibney (Agnetha), Anne Myler (Frida), Ed O’Leary (Bjorn) and Phil McCaffrey (Benny) take you on an unforgettable trip down memory lane.
